Once in an international tournament NASA sent the video recording of all the games to space for intelligent beings to find and know more about humans. However the aliens interpreted the gamesa challenge and began attacking Earth using the video game data. It's now up to Sam and other old time arcade game champions to save the Earth from the video game alien invasion.
Sam Brenner, Will Cooper, Ludlow Lamonsoff, and Eddie "The Fire Blaster" Plant all played classic arcade video gamesteenagers. But now they have to use their skills to try to save the world from aliens. The aliens watched video feeds that they thought was a declaration of war. So they send down the classic arcade games to destroy earth. They also get help from a military specialist. They have three lives and if all three get used then earth will be destroyed, and every time they lose a live the aliens take someone's life. Who will win, us or the aliens? It's an all-out battle to save our planet and everyone on it.
This movie is simply amazing, I went to see it earlier with my brother and we both thought it was one of the best films we had seen in a long time. The plot itself is genius, whoever wrote it has certainly blown my mind. If you are put off by the fact it contains mild language, don't be, it is rarely used thought out the movie and is scarcely noticeable, there was a young boy who looked about 6 in our row and he was cheering that it was "the best movie ever!" I am twelve and I was not put of by the rude language despite the film being a 12A. It has a great balance of action, romance, jokes and suspense. I thought the animation and graphics were incredible, they really brought the video game characters to life however in some scenes I found it difficult to tell what the attackers were (but that is probably because I am 12) that said I knew what the three main Video games featured were so it didn't ruin the experience at all, only left me curious after the movie. All that said I can actually sum up this move in one sentence, incredibly clever movie filled with action and suspense, couldn't wait to watch it and I wasn't at all disappointed.
I will be honest, i like Adam Sandler stuff for the most part. Sure some movies have overall childish humour and such but i always have a good time with them, usually watch them when i am drunk too cause its like that i will appreciate them more.<br/><br/>When it comes to Pixels, the games represented are from the era before i started playing video games (pretty much before i was born), i do know them and played them a bit later but they where not my childhood gamesmy first console was an NES. Despite this i could really enjoy seeing those very old games on the big screen and seeing the characters in them.<br/><br/>Obviously you have to suspend your disbelief on some aspects like Kevin JamesPresident but this movie is about old video characters attacking the world so duh…<br/><br/>This is the kind of movie where you buckle your seat belt, have a few drinks and watch for the laugh and thats about it. Its a fun comedy !
The 3D adds little, and the hallmarks of the Chris Columbus directing style are unevenness and luck. With a little of the latter, this could be a huge hit. But with a better star, sharper script and more Dinklage, it could have been a champ.
